I am in the final year of a work-integrated, on-campus electrical engineering degree in Munich. At an engineering firm I have worked in project monitoring and site supervision support for three years. I learned sales as a self-employed advisor: cold calling, needs analysis, closing and, as Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter (head of a regional office), my own team of eight advisors. For SALOONEA, my wife’s social media agency for beauty studios, I built the technology together with her: a website with an enquiry form, an internal sales tool for enquiries and meetings, and Studio OS, an app for the beauty studios the agency looks after.

Motivation

Why Silver Atena

  • Technology I want to understand

Silver Atena develops control units, embedded systems and power electronics for automotive, aerospace and other industries, from the idea to series production. My electrical engineering degree gives me the basics; I want to understand the systems themselves more deeply, step by step, in sales.

  • The whole process in one role

In Silver Atena’s sales team, acquisition, the offer and project support belong together. That is the whole path I want to learn: from the first contact, through the offer with the engineering team, to the running project.

  • An entry role that grows

The role is explicitly open to graduates and grows with the sales responsibility. That is how I have worked so far: at DVAG I rose from assistant to Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter in 20 months.

Overview

From the market to the project

Six stages from watching the market to a long-term customer relationship, as I understand the role. Each stage shows what happens there, what I already bring and how I would approach it.

Stage 01 of 06

Understand the market

What happens here: Before I approach a customer, I want to know what they are working on: new vehicle or aircraft programmes, electrification, tenders, appearances at trade fairs.

What I bring

  • Before every first meeting, I researched the beauty studio that enquired, using AI and public sources, and kept the result in a short profile.

Evidence SALOONEA, one profile per prospect

  • We analysed the first enquiries from our form with AI. As a result, I replaced a question where most studios had only picked “full package” or “not sure yet”.

    Evidence SALOONEA, enquiry form

How I would approach it at Silver AtenaProposal

For my market segment, I would keep a list of public signals: press releases on new programmes and electrification, job ads in engineering and purchasing, exhibitors at trade fairs. The result is a short list of which customers to approach first, agreed with the team.

Stage 02 of 06

Make contact

What happens here: The first contact happens on the phone, at trade fairs or at customer events. What matters is that a concrete next step follows.

What I bring

  • Cold calling and winning my own clients at Deutsche Vermögensberatung. Rejection was part of every day; I set up my own meetings.

    Evidence DVAG, Nov 2021 – Jun 2023

  • Ran training sessions and gave talks to larger groups. Speaking in front of people is part of my everyday work.

    Evidence DVAG

How I would approach it at Silver AtenaProposal · fictional person

“Good morning, Mr Example, this is Furkan Dag from Silver Atena in Munich. We spoke at our stand at the trade fair last week, about the control unit for your new drive project. As promised, I am following up: would you have 30 minutes to go through your requirements with one of our development engineers?”

How trade fair contacts are followed up at Silver Atena I would agree with the team.

Stage 03 of 06

Clarify requirements

What happens here: In the project business, the first enquiry shapes everything that follows: what exactly is to be developed, to which standards, by when and in what volume?

What I bring

  • Needs analyses for private and business clients, from the first question to the recommendation.

    Evidence DVAG

  • On the agency’s website I built an enquiry form with 14 questions about the studio, its goals and the desired scope. So before the first conversation it is already clear what a studio needs and which package fits.

    Evidence SALOONEA, in production

  • In project monitoring, I check whether the work on site matches the design documents.

Evidence San TGA Engineering GmbH, Munich

How I would approach it at Silver AtenaProposal

My checklist for a new enquiry

  • What is to be developed (function and scope)
  • Industry, standards and certification
  • Timeline and milestones
  • Volumes and service life
  • Technical and commercial contact
  • Agreed next step

Stage 04 of 06

Bring in the engineers

What happens here: An offer for a development project is not written by sales alone. The engineers need the right information early, and sales has to understand their answers.

What I bring

  • Work-integrated bachelor’s in electrical engineering at IU Munich, 135 of 180 ECTS, current average 1.8. Selected modules: Fundamentals of Electronics (1.0), Mechatronic Systems (1.0), Op-Amp Circuits (1.3), Microcontrollers and Logic Circuits (1.3).

Evidence Transcript of Records, attached to my application

  • Since Oct 2023 at a building services engineering firm: project monitoring and site supervision support, with insight into the design of electrical and building automation systems.

Evidence San TGA Engineering GmbH, Munich

  • At SALOONEA, I turned what studio owners asked for into clear specifications for the build and signed off the results.

    Evidence SALOONEA

How I would approach it at Silver AtenaProposal

My hand-off to the engineering team

  • Customer and project
  • Goal in the customer’s words
  • Technical key data and interfaces
  • Standards and certification
  • Timeline and volumes
  • Open questions for engineering
  • Who decides at the customer

Stage 05 of 06

Support the offer

What happens here: From offer to order: clarify questions, align assumptions with the team, negotiate and follow up reliably.

What I bring

  • Closing on commission and my own team: at Deutsche Vermögensberatung I worked my way up from assistant advisor via Agenturleiter to Regionalgeschäftsstellenleiter (head of a regional office). Recruited and actively led 8 advisors, trained many more, ran training sessions.

    Evidence DVAG, Nov 2021 – Jun 2023

  • At SALOONEA I led the sales meetings with interested studios and built each studio its own presentation, with a comparison of the packages for the offer meeting.

    Evidence SALOONEA

How I would approach it at Silver AtenaProposal

How I would support an offer

Before sending, a short check with engineering and costing: do scope, assumptions and timeline fit? After sending, a fixed meeting to go through the offer together instead of waiting for an email reply. I note questions and objections so that the next offer benefits from them.

Stage 06 of 06

Grow the relationship

What happens here: Many projects come from existing customers. Whoever looks after the relationship hears about new plans early.

What I bring

  • For my wife’s agency, I mapped the customer relationship digitally: enquiries come in through a form on the website and land in our internal sales tool, the Command Center. The studios the agency looks after work with Studio OS, an app for their day-to-day and for the tasks we give them. I decide what gets built and how the processes work. AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) implemented it to my specifications, so most of the code is written by the AI. I check every result before it goes into use.

Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
Without up-front questions, every first meeting starts from zero: what does the studio need, which scope fits, when should it start?
Decision
Instead of a plain contact form, 14 targeted questions; one of them suggests the right package. The studio books a meeting only after sending the form, so no enquiry gets lost.
My part
Designed the flow and the questions together with my wife; specifications, decisions and sign-off are mine. Most of the code was written by AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex).
Build
Website, input checks and spam protection, storage in a protected database, instant email to the team, booking via Calendly. Which channel an enquiry comes from is only measured with consent.
Check
192 automated website tests passing (test run of 27 Sep 2026). After analysing the first enquiries, I replaced a question that hardly distinguished between studios.
Value
The sales conversation starts with context: answers about the studio, its goals and the desired scope are there beforehand.

Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
Enquiry, meeting and call preparation belong in one place, otherwise context gets lost between the enquiry and the conversation.
Decision
A dedicated internal tool for the flow enquiry → first meeting → offer, with two-factor login.
My part
Defined the flow, stages and rules; sign-off. Code mostly by AI coding tools.
Build
Web application on the same database as the enquiry form. In use are the inbox, meetings and the call guide; further stages for the offer, closing and onboarding the client are built but not yet released.
Check
New stages go into use only after my sign-off; before that, a second AI usually reviews them independently.
Value
Every sales conversation starts with all the information.
U3 Strategy questionnairesAfter the first meeting, every studio gets a personal online questionnaire. The answers are the basis for the offer; it can be saved halfway, and we get notified. in production 2 questionnaires in use (Sep 2026) · no public links because they contain studio names

Case study: problem, decision, my part, build, check
Problem
The idea: requests from us, appointments, customers, receipts and social media tasks in one app instead of many.
Decision
One shared base for the web app and a later iPhone version. The AI is a connected service, not an own model. The app shows its suggestions for confirmation before saving; if the AI fails, fixed rules take over.
My part
Co-developed the product idea; specifications, decisions and sign-off. Code mostly by AI coding tools.
Build
Web app with an online database and access protection, connected to the agency’s Command Center. Running in a pilot phase.

How I build with AI

  1. Clarify the requirements and write them down
  2. Approve the design
  3. Have it built: Claude Code for app and website, Codex for the server side
  4. A second AI reviews it independently
  5. Testing without real client data
  6. My sign-off, then into use

What I would keep up with existing customers

Regular conversations along the project milestones, notes on upcoming plans and honest feedback from the customer’s side to engineering and sales. That way, the next project often grows out of the current one.

Open points

What I am still learning

Every project keeps a list of open points. Here is mine, each with the plan behind it.

  1. OP 1

Technical sales in the project business is new to me: offers for development projects, costing, contract questions. Acquisition, needs analysis and closing I know from self-employed sales.

Before I start, work through the typical steps from enquiry to offer in engineering. On the job, help with offers early and learn from experienced colleagues.

  2. OP 2

I do not yet know control units, power electronics or functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or DO-178C from practice.

Before I start, learn the basics well enough to classify customer questions correctly and pass them on to the right specialists. My electrical engineering degree is the foundation for this.

  3. OP 3

My English is good. For technical conversations and negotiations, I want it to be more confident.

Before I start, practise technical and sales English regularly, in writing and in conversation.
